The multiverse theory suggests that there are a multitude of universes that were created at random, and that any and all possibilities can be found in these universes. There could be a universe where the roles for humans and domesticated animals have switched. Or, there could be a universe where everyone is ninjas instead of regular people.
That being said, the Three Worlds is one of those alternate universes that simply popped into being. However, this universe is continually smashing into other universes, creating rifts that suck things into it at random. Every other universe experiences these rifts in different ways; a flash of light, earthquakes, even 'death'. But one thing is always certain: when you fall through the rift, you end up in one of the Three Worlds.
No one knows how or why, but once you're inside this new universe, there's no way out. Centuries have passed with beings from all sorts of universes falling into this new place, and some embrace the change while others...never quite accumulate. Regardless, once you're here, you're stuck, and you might as well make the best of what's left of the rest of your life.
